About Vera McGrath, LMFT
I Believe Therapy Should Feel Like an Exhale
Hi, I'm Vera. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 120241) based in Carlsbad, California, and I specialize in helping postpartum moms, mothers at every stage, and women navigating overwhelming life transitions.
When you walk into my office — or log into our virtual session — I want you to feel something you might not have felt in a long time: safe. Safe to be honest. Safe to cry. Safe to say the things you've been afraid to say out loud. I'm not here to judge you or give you a checklist. I'm here to really see you.
I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to be deeply heard. Not just listened to politely — but truly understood. That's the foundation of everything I do. Whether you're struggling with postpartum anxiety that makes you feel like you're going crazy, birth trauma that replays in your mind, or the quiet grief of losing the person you were before motherhood — I'm here for all of it.
I work with women who are exhausted from holding it all together. The high-achievers, the people-pleasers, the ones who were always "the strong one" and never learned how to ask for help. If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.
“I believe that true healing happens when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and safe. That's what I create in every session.”
— Vera McGrath, LMFT
My Approach
Healing That Goes Beyond Talk Therapy
I'm trained in multiple evidence-based modalities, and I weave them together based on what you need — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Who I Serve
Every Mom's Story Matters
I'm passionate about serving diverse communities and welcome clients of all backgrounds. My practice is a warm, inclusive space for:
- New and experienced moms at every stage
- Women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond
- High-achieving professionals feeling burnt out
- People of color and immigrant families
- Military families
- LGBTQIA+ individuals and families
- Anyone carrying the weight of unresolved trauma
I understand that your cultural identity, your family history, and your unique life experiences all shape who you are. I honor that in our work together.
Office Companion
Meet the Office Dog
My furry office companion is often around during sessions. Research shows that animals naturally lower cortisol levels, reduce anxiety, and help people open up more easily — all things that support the therapeutic process.
Many clients find having a dog present makes sessions feel less clinical and more human. If you have allergies or would prefer a pet-free session, just let me know — I will make sure the space is set up for your comfort.
