EMDR and Trauma Therapy

Process and release the emotional weight of past experiences.

Some experiences stay with us - not just in memory, but in the body. You may find yourself reacting to current situations with fear, anxiety, or overwhelm. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy can help you reprocess those past experiences so they no longer control your present.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR is a powerful, research-backed therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic or emotionally overwhelming memories using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. By supporting the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate difficult experiences, EMDR reduces the emotional intensity of these memories and helps relieve the weight of trauma, anxiety, and distress.

EMDR Can Be Helpful For

  • PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and trauma from past events

  • Anxiety, panic attacks, or chronic worry

  • Flashbacks or strong emotional triggers

  • Unresolved childhood wounds or attachment issues

  • Negative self-beliefs rooted in painful experiences

Whether you experienced a single traumatic event or ongoing emotional stress, EMDR can help your mind and body move toward healing.

What to Expect in EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy happens in phases. In the beginning, we’ll focus on building trust, developing calming strategies, and identifying the memories or issues you’d like to work on.

Once you’re ready, we’ll begin the reprocessing phase, which involves focusing on a specific memory while engaging in guided eye movements or tapping (bilateral stimulation). The goal isn’t to forget what happened, but to feel less reactive, more grounded, and more in control of your emotional responses. You set the pace. You’re always in control.

Benefits of EMDR Therapy

As we work together, you may experience:

  • A reduction in emotional stress related to specific memories

  • Less anxiety or panic attacks

  • More clarity and resilience in everyday situations

  • Increased self-compassion and self-worth

  • A sense of closure and peace around painful past events
