Common Questions
Everything you need to know about therapy with me.
Getting started is simple. You can request a free consultation through my contact page or call me directly at (760) 517-6361. During our initial conversation, we'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, answer any questions you have, and determine if we're a good fit. If we decide to work together, we'll schedule your first session. There's no pressure. This is just a conversation to see if this feels right for you.
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, the complexity of what you're working through, and how you respond to treatment. Some clients come for a few months to address a specific issue; others engage in longer-term therapy for deeper healing. EMDR therapy can sometimes produce faster results than traditional talk therapy alone. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach as needed. You're always in the driver's seat.
I am not in-network with any insurance plans. However, I can provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network benefits. I'm happy to help you navigate this process.
Yes! I see clients in-person at my office located at 2945 Harding Street, Suite 210, Carlsbad, CA 92008. I also offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions in the beautiful Carlsbad area for clients who prefer a more relaxed, movement-based setting. For those who prefer the convenience of meeting from home, I offer secure telehealth sessions to anyone located in California.
Absolutely. I use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform to ensure your sessions are secure and confidential. I've conducted hundreds of telehealth sessions and have found them to be just as effective as in-person work for most clients. Telehealth also offers unique benefits: no commute, the comfort of your own space, and easier scheduling. Many of my clients prefer it, especially parents of young children and busy professionals.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs. Each session is a collaborative space where you set the agenda. Some sessions might involve deep emotional processing; others might focus on practical coping strategies. If we're using EMDR, I'll guide you through the process step by step. My approach is warm, direct, and responsive to what you need in the moment.
I ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. I understand that life happens, especially for parents and busy professionals, and I try to be flexible when I can. We can discuss the specifics during our initial consultation.
No, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I do not prescribe medication. However, if medication might be helpful as part of your treatment plan, I can provide referrals to trusted psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners in the San Diego area. I'm happy to collaborate with your prescribing provider to ensure coordinated care.
Sessions are $200 each. I am not in-network with insurance, but I can provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We can discuss fees and payment options during your free consultation.
